When making a payment with a check over the phone how long does it take for it to clear?

It depends on the company. I've had some that cleared within a day or two, then I've seen some companies take up to a week before it comes through the account. it does depend on the company. there is something out there called check 21 i believe that gives companies the right to turn ure check into an immediate debit!! sucks right? but thats what is going to take over soon so checks will be worthless. i believe walmart has it also and some car companies. yeah so make sure u have the money in there it nearly happened to me once before.When making a payment with a check over the phone how long does it take for it to clear?
