How do you clear a phone's info before donating it?

I would really like to donate my cell phone because I just got a new one, but I don't know how to fully wipe the phone of data. I'm very paranoid about giving away my phone if it still has valuable information on it. How does one go about completely wiping the phone of data? How do you clear a phone's info before donating it?
It depends on the type of phone. Most GSM phones (with SIM chips) allow you to put all of your important information onto your chip. Most cell phones (whether they use SIM chips or not) have master reset procedures. Some of these are as simple as finding a small master reset button, others can be found on the internet (just do a Google search for your model of phone and the phrase ';master reset';. Include the quotes around ';master reset';). If you can't find out how to do it, just take it to one of your provider's stores and ask them to do it for you. go to the option: restore factory settings- in the settnigs menu

i think you still have to delete the phone numbers tho
